Palheiros do Castelo (Castle Cottages) started with a “haystack” and a garden. A Cottage made of schist and granite used as a haystack and a patio overlooking the river Coa.
Castle Cottages was born within the walls of the castle of Sabugal from the passion for the first sight of that patio. A project of Rural Tourism and promotion of our culture and heritage grounded on the recovery of stone cottages and barns.

In the Palheiros do Castelo you will find confort, time and peacefulness to rest and leisure in an environment that combines the New and the Old. Palheiros do castelo has set as a goal to restore old rustic houses with profound respect for the original and the surroundings, ensuring at the same time all the comodoties of modern days.

Although we wish that you feel as confortable as possible in the cottages, we want you to be aware that the richeness of our project lies also in the region and its people. You should not miss a visit to Sabugal’s Castle and historical center, the river beach, the surrounding Historical Villages, the Natural Parks of Serra da Estrela and Serra da Malcata. There are also several excellent regional gourmet specialties for you to taste and extraordinary artesans always eager to share their work with visitors.

For those occasions that you like staying at home, in every house has a selection of films, books and music. Internet wifi available (subject to availability).
